Foreign startups to attend ELECOMP 2018

TEHRAN – Over 50 foreign startups will participate at 24th Iran International Exhibition of Electronics, Computer & E-commerce (ELECOMP), which will be held from July 28 to 31 in Tehran.

From 50 to 70 startups from seven countries will attend ELECOM stars of ELECOMP 2018, head of Iranian ICT Guild Organization Mohammad Baqer Asna-Ashari told a press conference on Tuesday, IRNA reported.

He also pointed to ELECOM Games as another part of the exhibition, which focuses on video games.

Asna-Ashari also pointed to a hall for electronic government ELECOMP 2018 as a place in which state-run organizations can introduce their services to the visitors.

At the conference, ELECOM Stars secretary Arash Barahmand announced the event as the biggest one in startup ecosystem.

Isfahan and Khorasan technology parks also registered at the event, he announced.

Since its first edition in 1995, the event has been providing a unique opportunity for businesses to increase their share of this huge and ever-growing market, according to ELECOMP website. 

One of the major sections of the event is the startup competition dubbed “ElECOM Stars”, in which startup companies compete for a finance by the ICT Guild Organization.

The number of startups attending the event is expected to increase compared with previous years. The first ELECOMP hosted about 100 startups and the number rose to 450 in last year’s exhibition.
